The Nelson Center’s Advanced Preaching Certification program is a unique opportunity for men in ministry to improve both their sermon preparation and delivery. Through personalized mentorship from our skilled Senior Presenters, interactive virtual workshops and personalized feedback, participants will refine their ability to study Scripture deeply, apply it faithfully, and proclaim it powerfully. By completing this certification program, participants will sharpen their ability to exegete Scripture with increased clarity, conviction, and effectiveness, empowering them to confidently preach the Word of God.

Certification Coursework

Each participant will receive advanced training in preaching by developing an exegetical sermon series on a Pastoral or Prison Epistle.  Outlines for the entire book will be prepared and evaluated and one outline will be developed into a full sermon that will be evaluated on its substance and delivery.

One-On-One Mentorship

Each certification program participant will be paired with one Senior Presenter.  They will connect virtually monthly, and interact regularly for feedback and evaluation on research, outline and sermon preparation, and sermon delivery.  We believe this personalized guidance from seasoned preachers will also cultivate spiritual growth.

Virtual Workshops

Basics of Exegetical Research, Dr. Paul Himes
Preparing an Exegetical Series, Dr. Ben Heffernan
Crafting a Message, Pastor Stephen Zempel
Engaging the Audience, Dr. Jim Schettler

Feedback and Evaluation

In addition to the regular feedback from the assigned Senior Presenter, each  participant's outlines and sermon will be evaluated.  The final presentation of the sermon will evaluated by a panel of Senior Presenters.

The certification program is limited to 10 men in full-time ministry. The cost of the program is $1000.
