How the Evangelist Can Strengthen the Local Church

Dr. Jim VanGelderen

Dr. Jim Van Gelderen – How the Evangelist Can Strengthen the Local Church
Delving into the gifting of the local New Testament evangelist, Dr. Jim compellingly exhorts us to appreciate and understand the unique calling and mission of the biblical evangelist. From the very start we are reminded that the Gospel, the “evangel,” is at the heart of the evangelist’s message. Because the Gospel is central to our faith, it is vital that evangelists be trained and prepared and passionate concerning the whole message of our faith – Jesus, our Evangel! Evangelists are what Dr. Jim calls “crisis men.” They can be powerfully used by the Lord to help the pastor and local church deal with the trials and struggles they are bound to face in every day life, as well as unique challenges they may face. If the evangelist is true to his calling, he will focus on strengthening the faith of the brethren, imparting a strong call to turn to Christ in every need. Dr. Jim also discusses the essential topics of salvation and sanctification, as well as the matter of assurance of salvation. All of which is imperative for the spiritual health and well-being of every believer.

Assisting the Pastor as Staff and Leaders

Pastor Dean Miller

Pastor Dean Miller – Assisting the Pastor as Staff and Leaders
“A tired leader makes tired decisions.” Every pastor, assistant pastor, deacon and church member would benefit from this helpful message on assisting their pastor. Pastor Miller speaks from personal experience and from Exodus 18 on what it looks like to both pastor effectively and how to support the pastor. Moses and his father-in-law Jethro have an important interchange where a problem is exposed in leadership methodology, and three sound and biblical prescriptions are given to help lift the weight of the ministry effectively so the pastor can truly serve as the undershepherd to his flock. Everyone benefits.

Three Views on Salvation from James

Dr. Jim Van Gelderen

Dr. Jim Van Gelderen – Three Views on Salvation from James

Dr. Jim takes the book of James and “de-mystifies” the confusion swirling around the issue of works being necessary for our salvation from the penalty of sin, by walking us through chapter 2, and clearly and simply  expounding the meaning and context of saving faith and sanctifying faith. This message is a must-listen to for all preachers and believers. You will be encouraged and instructed and your own personal faith life edified. In particular, the very word “save/saved,” as used in our Bible, has several definitions and various applications, which careful and deliberate scrutiny of the context will provide spiritual grounding and comforting understanding to all believers, young and old alike. Notable truth: “Works is never a means, it is always a result – except when it is the means for more faith.”

Inspiring Young People with a Vision for Evangelism

Pastor Dean Miller

Pastor Dean Miller – Inspiring Young People with a Vision for Evangelism
From his experiences as a pastor, Bro. Miller takes us right into the heart of the great need we have to influence and admonish this up-coming generation of believers. Using Paul’s unwavering passion and practical wisdom found in I Timothy’s instructions to the young Pastor Timothy, we are reminded of several key things: 1) It is imperative that we be bold in our faith and calling to reach the lost, rather than to be intimidated and default to the tendency to “hold the fort” against the noise of the wicked and ungodly. Do we demonstrate personally through our prayers and priorities an example worthy of following? 2) The “older”generation must be modeling and transmitting this passion to be courageous and Spirit-filled in our lifestyle witness and witnessing activities to the “younger” generation. Or are we unavailable to answer the difficult questions people are asking and needing biblical answers to? And 3) What does our empowering and equipping look like in these matters? Is our faith worthy of passing on? Using the testimony of Charlie Kirk, Pastor Miller, who ministers in the very strongholds of godlessness in Colorado, challenges all of us, regardless of our age, to take responsibility for our faith’s witness and power generationally.
